We’ve already heard the news that the upcoming 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat with the supercharged, 6.2L Hemi makes a whopping 707 horsepower and 650 lb-ft, bone stock—the highest ever factory rating for a domestic passenger car. But now Dodge is claiming that it’s also the world’s quickest factory muscle car after releasing claims that the car runs the quarter mile in 11.20 seconds at 125 mph on the stock street tires and 10.80 at 126 mph on drag radials. Cue rhetotric from the Shelby GT500 crowd. We also expect to hear from the homebase fans claiming that the stock 1968 Hemi Darts are probably quicker than 10.80 if they had drag slicks. But we’re not so interested in the fight as we are in the fact that later this year we’ll be able to buy a 10-second car with a warranty, and one we can drive every day with air conditioning. The heyday is now.

To prove it, Dodge has also released an unconvincing, reality-show-cheesy video with Richard Rawlings from Fast N’ Loud, seen below. We’d have rather seen the facts and the action without the bad acting, but the dragstrip comparo to a stock ’71 Hemi Challenger is cool—and with the expected result. Jump to the action at 1:40.
